Where did the name “Dog Ear“ come from?
Dog Ear has a double meaning. “Dog eared” is a term for a book whose pages have been bent
over at the top from many readings of a beloved story. (I’ve tried to copy that image on the web
pages.) ‘Dog ear’ also refers to, Halley, who patiently listens to every ‘take’ in the sound booth
and allows the use of her image in this site.
How do you decide which books you will record?
I read LOTS of books, notice which are the most popular, evaluate if it would be a good fit
for the narrator, and then I work with the publisher to start the production process.
How long does it take to record a book?
It depends on the number of words and the narrator’s skill level. For a 65,000
word book, it can take at least a week to record.

I would like to record my book at your facility. What are your fees?
The following table will give you a general idea of the cost should you desire to record at the Dog
Ear Audio facility. The fee includes the use of the recording booth as well as having a director and
a recording engineer present during the complete production process. You will be provided two
master copies of your final audio project.
Not included in the fee: cover graphics, duplication or packaging. However, we do provide
these services. Because there are too many variables to consider, these prices are determined
on a per project basis. Prices listed above do not include travel, food or lodging.
